American Express has announced a Members Project Competition, where it takes card member’s ideas in a variety of fields in the hopes of finding one that may substantially impact our lives for the good. On July 3 they will select the top 50 projects, and on August 7 they will announce the winner. The winning project will be funded by American Express and potentially interested companies, to bring to realization. AmEx will spend up to 5 million Dollars on this.

Since I have been hammering on Car Design TV that I feel car designers should push the boundaries, I have entered 3 proposals, all of which ultimately aim to change our lives and our children’s future for the better. One is clearly a more advanced project, which fundamentally changes the way we use our infrastructure, combining the advantages of personal transportation with the advantages of mass transit.

Since I believe in this cause, and since the more votes you get on your projects, the higher your chances are to get your project funded, I would like to ask all of you to be so kind to click on the 3 project descriptions, look at them, and hopefully vote for them with the maximum amount of stars.

What I would do if we happen to get one of the projects funded, is to actively capture the whole development and post it in all details on our shows on Car Design TV, so you can see the ups and downs, and hopefully comment and contribute in a positive way to make this project the best ever, really innovating car design, transportation.

Clean, Safe and Fast Infrastructure
Zero Emissions Clean Green and Fun Commuter Vehicle and
Fun and Clean Narrow Lane Vehicle Concept

I have posted the allowed 1,000 word descriptions of each project on the AmEx pages. Of course, there is much more to each of them, and if they go through to the next round, I will describe them in much more detail, show videos and make computer animations showing them in detail as well. Meanwhile, we have to get to the top with this if we are to stand any chance. So please, please, help push this.

Hi all,

I am in Europe at the moment, in cold and freezing Europe that is. We are shooting a couple of Aston Martins, a European Cadillac and 2 Opels for Car Design TV, and we will be going to the Geneva Motor Show. Aside from that I am of course still working on 2 design projects. Talk about multi tasking.

That is why we have not posted a new Alias 3D TV show yet. They are in the pipeline, but I am just short of time at the moment. My apologies for this. It may take a few more days for me to clear the schedule nough, but I am working hard on it.

In this show we asked Alonzo Powers from Auto Design Project, to share with us some of his tips and tricks. After that I try it out for myself by doing 2 quick surfaces on Danny Ellis’ Zero Kar Narrow Lane Vehicle concept, and projecting Danny’s sketch onto it. The result is quick and insightful.

Alias 3D TV is aimed at users of Autodesk Alias Studiotools software. In particular the automotive industry side of users, but much of our content will be useful for users in other industrial design areas as well.

The above show was our first attempt at a video show on Alias, where we used the drawing part of the software for a special on our Car Design TV web site.
