Hdmi Widescreen
My laptop didn't come equipped with an HDMI port - Am I completely unable to view HDMI on a side monitor?
I'm thinking about purchasing a 20-24" Inch Widescreen monitor, to hook up to my laptop. I knew that it didn't come with a HDMI port when I purchased it, and only a VGA.
Does that mean there's no possible way to view HDMI quality video/images on the widescreen if I hooked them up together? (using a Hdmi Cable)?

The simple answer is no you can not view HDMI quality video/images from your notebook on an external monitor. If your notebook has a DVI connector, then the answer would be yes because HDMI is basically DVI without the audio, just video. VGA is an analog standard and DVI & HDMI are digital standards. A modulator can display video on an external monitor but you will not get the quality your are looking for because it is still converting (up scaling) an analog signal. The most important thing in video quality is the source and the way it is transmitted to the display. Analog to Digital you lose quality. The only way is Digital to Digital to preserve quality.
