Flat Panel Plasma or Lcd Tv?
I have heard Plasma Tvs run hotter ,but have have a much better picture.My Computer Monitor is Lcd and does not look that great.Feedback please!
Well, the issue with your Lcd Monitor could be a number of things from the monitor itself to the graphics card. I have a LG LCD monitor and a Samsung Lcd monitor and the Samsung looks a little better but then it's attached to a brand new computer with a high end graphics card. The LG is attached to my old but reliable workhorse computer that is about 7 years old.
Personally, I prefer plasma technology. Contrary to popular belief, Plasma is no more likely to have a burn in issue than LCD. The LCD makers just call it different things like ghosting, image retention and so forth. Yeah, they do generate a little bit more heat but with the price of home heating now days, that's not really a bad thing. When the weather is warmer, we just keep the ceiling fan on when we're watching TV as the room we have ours in doesn't get good natural air flow to begin with.
My husband watches a lot of sports, action stuff, all that fast moving content and we went with the plasma; a Panasonic and do not regret it one little bit! Plasmas don't consume a lot more power; the Panasonic units are Energy Star rated!
LCD is making a big deal out of running at 120hz. Heck, plasma runs at 480hz. The only stipulation is that if you use the unit for a lot of gaming, an LCD might be easier on you. I've heard (although never experienced it) that gaming on a plasma gives some people a motion sick type feeling. I don't know if it's because you have a tendancy to sit closer when gaming and all that fast action is "getting" you or what. And some people it doesn't bother in the least!
