Sony U and S series differences?
I would just like to know if there are any differences between the Sony Bravia U series and S Series Lcd televisions, because I don't understand what is different!
I don't think it's the colour just to save you effort if you think it is that...
In particular I'm looking at the KDL-20S2030.

Sony's lettering system normally dictates the chassis design.....
What that means is that some chassis will operate in the USA or operate in the USA "since it was programmed for USA operation"
You see, some chassis are developed as a Universal Programmable chassis.....these chassis can be programmed for USA use, then programmed for EUROPEAN use....
NOW don't expect the Universal (U) to be reprogrammed with JUST SOFTWARE....It's not that simple....
A universal has 80% UNIVERSAL PARTS on it, and 20% USA parts....you'd have to remove the USA parts and Replace it with European parts (E).....and that is not cost effective.
In the manufacturing plant, a UNIVERSAL chassis can be built quite easily and they only have to change about 20% of the manufacturing line to switch from european to usa and back again.
THAT IS WHAT THAT DESIGNATION IS ALL ABOUT....
When a tech like me needs to repair this TV, we look up the parts on the website and get the correct part for the chassis......That why there is an "S" chassis and a "U" chassis.
