Need Help With Flat Panel Widescreen 19" Dell SE198WFP Monitor ASAP!!!?
I just bought a Flat Panel Widescreen 19" Dell SE198WFP Monitor. Well it gives me the choice of using a standard monitor cable or a single link DVI-D cable. My video card is a Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512MB and comes standard with DVI-D connections, but has a DVI-D to standard monitor connection adapter. What should I use for best results the DVI-D single link cable or the standard monitor cable? As of the moment I'm using the DVI-D single link cable is that what I should be using? Also for a Widescreen Flat Panel which of these resolutions should I set my desktop to for best results? 800X600, 1024X768, 1152X864, 1280X720, 1280X768, 1280X800, 1360X768, 1440X900?
Also on a personal note Doom 3 won't support any resolution I listed except 1024X768 and 1152X864. 1280X1024 isn't an option on this monitor:-(. Any advice? I guess I should just leave it at 1024X768 since that's all this monitor will really support that well.
I am not sure if there is a driver .inf file for this from Dell or not but it might be worth looking for. I have 2 LCD with similar specs that I am running from a similar video card. My X1650XT runs both monitors very well using DVI-D cables. On the one the manufacturer provided the .inf file. On the other, I just use the Windows Plug and Play driver that installs automatically. They both are in use all the time at max res and refresh. No issues or artifacts or dead pixels and these are off brands. I have tried using the VGA cable but do prefer the results with DVI-D. There isn't a big difference but I think DVI gives a brighter picture and IIRC the technical spec has greater bandwidth.
Use the maximum resolution that is native to your display as that is usually where they look best. BTW, you may need some new desktop wallpapers.
